Greetings everyone! As a chaplain I want to share with you all a personal experience that demonstrates the importance of stress management and maintaining a positive attitude during challenging times.🙏🏻

Currently a loved one of mine is undergoing emergency surgery, and the stress and worry is overwhelming. However, I realize in order to support my other loved ones and be there for them, I need to take care of myself too💪🏻

Managing stress while I wait is my top priority. I’m practicing deep breathing, walking, and meditation. This is helping me stay present in the moment and maintain a clear mind, enabling me to offer the emotional support my other loved ones need.

It’s crucial to remember that stress can easily cloud our judgment and affect our overall well-being. By proactively managing stress, we can keep a positive attitude that not only benefits ourselves but also those around us.

So, my friends, let’s prioritize self-care and stress management, especially during challenging times. Together, we can face any situation with a resilient spirit & positive outlook💫

Ps. Just heard the surgery was successful

📸 Throwback to this amazing moment from 31 years ago!🕊️

I stumbled upon this old picture of myself & it instantly brought back memories of my deep love for animals. This photo captures a beautiful bond between me and a cockatoo named Velcro, symbolizing my unwavering passion for our feathered & furry friends.

Fast forward to today, and I’m incredibly grateful to say that I’m pain-free from CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome). My journey has been a testament to the power of neuroplasticity & adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors. 🚶🏻‍♀️💤🥗🧘🏻‍♀️

In fact, I’ve recently authored a book that chronicles my experience of overcoming pain through the incredible potential of our brain’s ability to rewire itself. It will be released in September to coincide with National Pain Awareness month.

Here’s the best part: I wanted to extend my love for animals beyond the pages of my book. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that 50% of the proceeds of every copy soof will be donated to animal rescue organizations. 🦜🐶🐴🐇

What happens when words over simplify our experiences & perceptions?

Recently I realized my African grey parrot Lovey, uses the word “apple” to describe all types of fruit.

At first I found this amusing, but upon reflection I realized that my parrot’s limited vocabulary had a deeper significance. It made me ponder how language, even when it simplifies communication, can restrict our understanding and perception.

We humans often fall into a similar trap when it comes to managing chronic pain.

Lovey’s use of the word “apple” for all fruit is like a person convincing themselves that only one particular way of managing pain will be the answer.

To effectively manage chronic pain it’s crucial to embrace a multidimensional approach that considers the individual’s unique circumstances, including physical, emotional, and psychological factors. By doing so we can open ourselves to a wider range of possibilities and improve our overall well-being.

For a multidimensional approach check out @therealdoczoff for information about cognitive behavioral therapy, @trainpain_health for neuroplasticity exercises, and @bethfrates.md for lifestyle medicine to learn science based strategies to improve your overall quality of life.

✨Uplifting News! 🚀

I’m over joyed to share with you all the incredible journey I’ve been on. Thanks to the amazing power of neuroplasticity, I’ve regained the use of my dominant hand that had been damaged by CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome.)

The tortured writing in this picture reflects the quality of my life before I incorporated neuroplasticity exercises into my life. I couldn’t hold a pen with my dominant hand & I had to resort to writing with my non-dominant hand. It was a tough road that impacted all my daily living activities. 🍴🪮👗🛀

Neuroplasticity exercises changed my challenged existence by helping me reclaim the use of my dominant hand. The exercises not only turned off my pain, but also helped me gain strength and dexterity that enabled me to experiment with creating jewelry.

But wait there’s more! 🐾😻🦜 By pursuing my creative dreams, I found a means to support a cause very dear to my 💗. Many of the pieces I create are dedicated to raising funds for animal shelters across the community.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to combine my love of art with a greater purpose. The power of neuroplasticity has not only transformed my life, but also given me the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of our animal friends.🌈

Another way I’m following my dreams is donating 50% of the proceeds of my upcoming book, Unwinding Pain: Affordable and Accessible Ways to Feel Better, to animals rescue organizations.

While the world waits for my book you can learn all about neuroplasticity and receive free pain management tips by clicking the link in my bio to subscribe to the Unwinding Pain Chronicle newsletter. 📗#rescuedog #shelterdog #helpinganimals #helpinganimals #rehoming #gooddeeds #communityinvolvement #audobonsociety #painmanagement #painmanagementsolutions #crps #neuroplasticity #healing #healingjourney #healingjewelry #handcraftedjewelry #oneofakindjewelry #oneofakindjewellery #oneofakindart#arthritiswarrior #badback #autoimmunedisease #painwarrior #crpswarriors #rsd #pain
✨Exciting News✨

I’m beyond thrilled to share a personal triumph with all of you today. After 38 long years, I’m finally able to play my flute again.🎶

For those who may not know, I’ve been living with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) for a significant part of my life. It had been a constant battle limiting the use of my dominant hand and making even the simplest tasks seem impossible. However, with determination, and the guidance of neuroplasticity exercises, I’ve been able to reconfigure my brain’s wiring & reclaim my ability to live a full life & even play the flute again.

I played the flute since I was in the third grade & not being able to play for so many years was incredibly disheartening.

Neuroplasticity, in simple terms, is the brain’s ability to re-organize & form new neural connections throughout our lives. By actively engaging in specific exercises & techniques, I was able to reset my brain’s pathways to regain control over my hand movements & abolish the burning sensations of CRPS.

It was a gradual process that required patience, perseverance, & a whole lot of practice. But the results have been nothing short of miraculous! I achieved remission from CRPS – that means I’m totally pain-free.

Thanks to neuroplasticity exercises, I can once again create beautiful melodies and feel the joy that music brings to my soul. 🎼

Remember my friends, our brains have the incredible power to reshape our lives. Embrace the concept of neuroplasticity and unlock your own potential for growth and healing no matter what your pain challenge is.
